Mrs. G.'s Chalk Talk: May 12, 2017

Dear Families,

We completed our first week of NWEA testing.

 Next week we will be taking the math NWEA test on Tuesday.

Please make sure that your child gets lots of sleep the night before and eats a healthy breakfast. Like for the reading test, we will allow students to chew mint gum or suck on mint Lifesavers. Please send in any small candy or gum that you feel comfortable with them having during the test. See the links below for information about this!

Please check over the Genius Hour/Passion project note in your child's folder. We'll have time next week for research, but please have some research printed just in case we don't have access to our computers/Ipads because of testing. Please watch this video for more information on this project.

Reading, Writing, and Science

Most students finished up their books and pamphlets, and a few are working on a website. Next week, we'll begin working on our gardens and doing a Google Hangout with PV second graders to teach them about the importance of bees and they'll teach us how to get our soil ready for planting! We're hoping to pass out our pamphlets to our community in June! Stay tuned for details! Be sure to see previous post about our Beekeeper visit!

Math:

This week we completed lessons 8.6-8.8. Our Unit 8 Math test will be Wednesday, May 19th. Please look over some of the IXL skills below and use the "at home review" to help your child prepare for this test.
