Language Arts
:
This week we integrated our Social Studies lessons to line up with our Reading and Writing time. We took the inventors we learned about during Social Studies and learned more about them by practicing our close reading skills. Students needed to answer questions from the text by finding evidence and highlighting that part of the reading. Next week, we will start  researching information for our Need to Knows for our gardening project.

Math
We started the week by exploring equal parts and identifying halves, thirds and fourths on shapes in lessons 9.1-9.4. The unit 9 test is scheduled for Friday, June 8th. A
ttached are the home links, the at-home review, and the IXL skills for our final unit.

IXL Skills for Unit 9:

Social Studies
-  This week we
focused on preparing for our field trips by diving into our history unit. We learned all about some important inventors like Henry Ford, the Wright Brothers, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison and Alexander Bell. We talked about some of their inventions and discussed how these inventions helped shaped the present day we live in. We also discovered a fun thinking routine called the Explanation Game--ask your child about it! We will continue this unit next week.

Field Trips
We
had a wonderful time atGreenfield Village and
are so appreciative to the parents and grandparents who were able to chaperone this trip. Please remember that on Tuesday (the 29th

This helped to prepare us for our persuasive/opinion writing which will be a book review.
